I'm unsure if this is the correct section. but the 91 ford explorer I was going to buy Sunday happened to be in an accident today. The my friend rear ended somebody because of minor break failure.

I didn't get to see it in person but my friend went and looked at the damages. he couldn't check under the hood but from what he saw the only issues were the grill, bumper and hood. the radiator looked fine from what he saw.

thing is the owner says that it won't start at all. I to be honest am a gm.guy and have only seen under the sploders hood a few times not enough to really recall from memory. So is there anything at the front of the vehicle that if hit would lstop it
running? I'm assuming the battery just got disconnected but I won't be sure until Saturday.

right now the gut is going to sell it for about $50 I want to get it running but I don't want to spend a lot in parts to get it running.

the cosmetic damage doesn't matter I'm getting an after market bumper and grill and I can get a new hood for about $20

If it turns over but doesn't start, check if the fuel cutoff inertia switch was tripped after the front impact.

Usually located around the passenger side kick panel with a reset button. Search the 91-94 sub forum. GL

Thank you for the reply. As I said I won't be able to look at it until Saturday so I want to get as many replies on what may have happened to cause the issue of it not starting. I don't have a vehicle at the moment so I'm sorta in need of this one as long as it can get me from point a to b and back for a few months.

I do have accesses to a brand new junk yard that has first gen explorers out its ass so parts won't be hard to get. it's just finding the problem without a mechanic because I can't afford one.

SWShawaii nailed it. The inertia switch is the first
thing to check, and it's almost certainly the problem.
No parts are required, all you do is find the switch
and push the red button in.

It'll either be near the passenger side kickpad, or
in the passenger side footwell at the transmission
hump. You might have to pull up the carpet a bit
to find it.

Oh my eyes...

Yeah, after an impact hit, that switch needs to be pushed back. GL!
