While checking air pressure i noticed that one of the lug nuts were missing. Upon closer inspection the bolt thingy was sheared off!! WTH!

Is it hard to replace? How much torque is needed on the lugs?? The tire dude must have did it to tight!

Is it front or back? I think they're both pretty easy to replace. Someone said that you basically need to take apart your rear axle to change the back ones. But I did mine without doing that. Its just a tight squeeze that way. Tire shops are notorious for over tightening those things.

its the front. I forgot to mention... thanks for the reply. ill get it fixed. but im going to get my own torque wrench!

its easy up front. rear is more difficult b/c of the ebrake.
that was probably me that you heard the taking rear axle apart thing. the ford dealer here overtightened mine during a free tire rotation with oil change. mistake on my part. i've found 4 broken studs since then. i replaced the front 2. i made them replace the back 2. they decided to take my axle apart in order press them in. they also bent the axle flange in doing so and didn't fix it. so i drive off and of course its obvious. back in it goes for a new axle. anyway, that isn't necessary.

you basically take off the brake system including the rotors. knock the broken studs out and fish them out the back. fish new ones in from behind and line them up so the little ridges are lined up properly. get about 4 or 5 washers and put over the stud on the outside. put the lug nut on and tighten the poop out of it. this will in effect draw the stud into place. it will take some elbow grease but that is how the chilton's says to do it.
its not hard, but its a little time consuming.
the only studs i've found that work are the factory style from ford.

THX! So how much torque on the lug nuts? Im going to start double checking this myself after rotations. Seems you cant trust even the dealer....

i seem to remember it being like 80lbs...
i'll check the manual tonight and reply.

yeah i'll never let a dealer touch my wheels again.

i can't find my darn chilton's! oh no!
i'll post the answer when i find it though. unless someone else does first
