Brush Guard Questions. Need Answers ASAP

Hey all,

I'm going to be picking up a brush guard for my 1996 XLT this coming Saturday for cheap.

The guard looks Identical to the brush guard on the red 2 door seen here:

It says this is a Westin brush guard, but i can't find a model number, name, or any kind of istructions to mount it. The seller has all the mounting brackets and such. It was previously mounted to a 1998 Explorer.

Can anybody identify this brush guard, point me to some more pics of it installed on second gen explorers, and possibly give me a run down on how to mount it?

Anything would be appreciated.

There are numerous brush guards that look like that. First, you should do a search and see if a 96 and a 98 take the same brush guard. Are they both 4 door and such. They mount to the bolts on the bumper and I had to notch out the bottom plastic plate to install mine.

As far as I can tell, the 1996-1998 had the exact same frame points, and the same bumper as each other. After doing some searching, it appears that the 2 door and 4 door models are the same too. This brush guard came off a 4 door anyways.

Do you have any pics of yours installed?

That looks a bit different actually. three main bars , and an extra bar at the top of the brush guard. I'm pretty sure it would fit the same though.
