Brush Guard Questions

Yeah I might look into it and see if it is possible. I'd like to add some support and actually make this brush guard a little more....guardable. Shouldn't be that expensive either.

I'd like the same but I find it ironic that we all buy the cheapest guard and want to make it actually guard. :p:

Between $700 and $1000... You have to download the PDF file on their page. It's got all the specs of all their models in it.

And there aren't many bears in Florida to hit that would warrant a heavy duty guard like that.

Like I always say, "If the first piece of advice a life coach gives you isn't 'Watch out for bears....' then you're being scammed....

Gotta watch out for them big, 'orrible, nasty koala bear's down here;)

The brush guard isn't necessarily "shaking." Your body flexes separately from the frame and the brush guard is frame mounted. What you're actually seeing is the body giving you a nice, soft ride. The brush guard may be moving some, but it is difficult to actually tell how much.

Damn, there's where a unibody X is better...

I was assuming the shaking was like a vibration. Does it "shake" when you kick it?

Just keep adding metal 'til she don't then mate!

I'm normally a guy who will drop the extra money on something of quality. With the brush guard Hunter vs Westin I just didn't see the difference that justified like a double in the price tag. Plus it was a gift and the price it went for was about as high as I was allowed to go.

I've always wondered about getting a metal shop to fab me some core supports that I could bolt onto the current brush guard does anyone think that would be strong?

Ill post some pics of my custom braces soon

I have a rather cheap one and I just welded it. took care of all shaking. the mounting hardware was a joke- i tightened it as much as possible and i could move it with my hand. 2 beads on either side where the brackets attached to the guard took care of it and made it stronger too.

I made my own brackets because of the body lift. I welded the nuts onto the inside of the brackets and then tightened the bolts down really tight. It appears to move when driving because of the flex of the body but there is no way to move it by hand, or foot.

Unlike the Westin on my wife's Tahoe which can be "adjusted" by hand. The mounting hardware leaves a little to be desired, but her brush guard has more than paid for itself in two separate instances.

A search on the Sport Trac board will show the brackets I made.

Just noticed this thread. That Sterling guard is really sweet! Yeah it's expensive, but it is made to hold a winch..... I'll bet it doesn't shake :D
