My 98 XLT 4x4 has had a bucking (or jerking) problem when going up hills and accelerating hard for as long as I've had it. I had to take the upper intake off to repair another problem and then I saw it ! I looked down at the lower intake bolts and one of them was loose and another was just about all the way out !! WTF ! My Explorer had never been taken apart for anything so they had to be loose from the factory. I didn't have the cash for new gaskets so I just tightened all the bolts up. Bucking gone. It runs smooth as silk now. I hope this can help someone.
