Buggy Springs

Has anyone used a buggy spring set-up on the rear? I am considering this as part of my suspension modificatons to increase articulation. It has been successfully employed on several other make of trucks.

I was talking to some guys at a local shop who said they were in the process of doing an Explorer with buggy springs.

I was going to do it but when I looked at the frame a little closer I found that the passengers side is notched for clearance of the exhaust. It could easily be done but you would have to box that section of the frame to make it work and probably rework your tail pipe.

The 3/4 Elliptical modification is my next project. I started measuring for the frame rail fix, but just got the word that I am being transferred back to CA from CT in 30 days. Going back to the desert! Rancho Mirage. I'll pick up the project when we get settled and post pictures and instructions when the project is completed properly.
