Replacing Coil springs with leaf springs

Has anyone ever thought of replacing the coil springs on a first gen with leaf springs? I know some of the F150's came with the same style front axle as ours with the pivot bracket, but used leaf springs. With this setup, you could also do away with the radius arms. Just a thought..

It has been discussed before. To summarize: no real advantage and a waste of time/money.
