Burning rubber smell???

Today, I went up a paved road, about 7 miles on 4-wheel high because it was icy. Then when i drove down the moutian in 4-high, I stopped to unlock my manuel hubs, and noticed a burning rubber smell, when my face was down by the tire well. Anybody have any ideas of why i was smelling that???

might have been burning oil if you were booting it up.

could just be that the front drivetrain hadnt been used in awhile and was just warming itself up to regular temps.....

How about your breaks were hot from driving down a mountain?

Yea, those all sounds possible, So im guessing there is nothing to worry about.

I get the same smell when I have it in 4wheel on a cold day. I don't think it's nothing to worry about either.
