Yes, yes I know I shouldn't ask this question.

But I am :)

I have an 06 4WD v8 Explorer.

Two questions:
1) Is it even possible to do a burnout given that it's auto 4WD?
2) If yes, how? Disable put in 1st, disable traction control?

i think you can do the brown wire mod. which disables the 4x4 auto. and just makes it 2wd untill u physicly click the 4x4 hi button... look at the thread on the 3rd gen page.. it mite help

last i heard the brown wire mod doesnt work on 06-10. I may be wrong.

Why would you want to put your truck through that?

Better his truck than mine.

Is it auto 4x4 or AWD? I'm not that familiar with what transfercases came in the 3rd gens. 2nd gens with the v8 were AWD or 2wd, if you had AWD there was no way to do a "burn out"

Every once in awhile when I'm up at the ranch with the guys we like to horse around. This would be in the dirt so not too much stress to say the least on the truck lol.

Yes, I've also heard that the brown wire mod will not work, which is why I started this thread.

Also, it's 4WD, not AWD, but on these 4th gens, Auto 4wd and AWD are one and the same, the exception being the "4WD" has a separate "4WD hi and lo" option.

Sounds like I'm in the "no way to do it" umbrella, which I kind of figured. Oh well!

^Exactly. Given enough power, anything can do a burnout.

It takes a lot more power than you guys realize to do a 4 wheel burnout. And then there is the traction control to deal with. Unless there is snow on the ground, then anything goes.

nothing pulls the chicks like a burnout... gnar dgaf.

Oh, I know. It was just for fun.:p:

Trust me, it doesn't work that way once you're married. My wife wouldn't appreciate it LOL. Though, according to her, it didn't work when I was single either.. hmm haha. Perhaps it's just an excuse us guys use to roast the tires every now and again lol.

It's a way for us to beat our hairy chests in the smell and smoke of burning rubber then go help the little lady hold her purse while she tries on 50 dresses...It's a way of retaining a small bit of male dignity and ego. Haha

rent a mustang for a day with a 302? you wont even have to buy tires for it! best part. :P

You know when it's a good burnout and the driveshaft breaks.

Or the pinion angle was incorrect ;)

I think you hit the nail on the head LOL

I prefer the smell methanol over burning rubber.
