When you register to become a member of this forum, you are supposed to read the rules first. One of the rules clearly states to search for your answer before you start a new thread and ask. I completely understand starting a thread if the subject is of a lingo that a member doesn't understand, therefore it makes it real difficult to search. But, a thread started on "What is my bolt pattern on my Explorer?" is just silly and proves that the newbie didn't read the rules of the forum and search for their answer first. Hell, I was quick with a semi-newbie tonight when they asked "How Do I Lower My 98?" A search would have explained everything real quick. I have had a few problems with my X's over the time that I have been here, very few of which I have ever had to post about, because I did a search and found all the info I needed. And yes, there are a BUNCH of pointless threads out there made by experienced members which waste a lot more space than all the typical newbie questions combined. But IMO these come from knowledgable (I use that term loosely) members who spend a lot of time here and need some pointless threads to occupy their time between lending theri experience in more important threads. These seemingly pointless threads keep the group together by entertaining them while they wait to spread their knowledge.
OK, I'm rambling. Let me see if I can make a point here. Yes, sometimes members get a bit rude and quick with newbies that ask stupid questions, sometimes that is deserved, sometimes it isn't. For a lot of the members of this board, this forum is part of their lives and sometimes they are in a short, rude mood. With some restraint, it should be easy to ignore these newbie posts, but sometimes it is just aggravating when they don't follow the rules.
I think I should go now
