My dad and me replaced my fuel filter the other day. If you've changed your fuel filter yourself, you would know that the two connectors on each end of the filter are a PITA to get off..SO in the process, we were able to get the rear fuel line disconnected nicely..BUT we busted the front connector forcing us to cut off the connect and make our own connector..(i.e. fuel line hose held by hose clamps)..

The problem is..when I got home today I noticed our new "connector" was dripping 1 drop of gas per 10 seconds (which is pretty small..but it still is leaking fuel)...

My question is if you guys have any suggestions on how to keep the fuel connector we made closed so it wont drip fuel anymore? Because I know I dont want to catch fire and you know what...

Please help me! Thanks!

I would suggest finding a replacement front line. Look hard at parts yards, and replace the whole front line.

The pressure in the line is higher than clamps will hold. The plastic lines aren't designed to be able to adapt or retrofit anything to them. Replacing the line would be the best solution. Good luck,

When you say the line is dripping is this with the engine running or off? I agree with CDW6212R and would also recommend a replacement hose.. The fuel system is under a fair amount of pressure and you don't want to take chances with it.. Btw did you use the fuel line disconnect tool to remove the lines? If not then check out the Fuel Filter Removal thread for lots of info and pics detailing the process.

If its at the end of the hose you can cut it and re-attach the metal pressure fitting. To do it right however the hose should come off the truck.
