With that many miles get it inspected. There are a lot of good cars and trucks pushing 200,000 and more, but there is also a lot of bad ones. Get it inspected, It's cheap piece of mind. Especially if your looking for reliability.

Also rebuilt trannies are often better than original. They will often have updates in them.

The V8 seems like a deal if it runs and drives ok and is a AWD. Definitely go for the V8 about the same mileage, much more power and a superior trans.

Could be a leaking exhaust manifold, which is common.
I wouldn't assume so, but it could be.

Get it checked out and if its manifolds thats easy-

1700 is a good price if its in decent shape.
