buzzing sound

when my car is turned off and the key is just in the accessery position, my system sounds just fine.
i have started to get a buzzing in my tweeters when the engine is on. it changes with the speed of the engine.
what do i do!?!?!?!?!

Did you wire your power wire close to your RCA cables? Are your RCA cables sheilded or any good? How is your ground? I used the bolt that holds down the rear seat closest to the door(i have a 93 4 door exp). Since the static or buzz is changing with rpm, than I think you have alternator whine. This can be fixed by getting higher quility RCA's, reruning your wires, or maybe even getting a better amp. What does your system consist of?
 






I have about $3000 in stereo in my 91 EB. Most or all stereo shops carry RCA filters. They plug into the RCA outs on the back of the radio. There is male and a female connections on this filter. They just simply plug straight inline with the existing RCA's. The other guy is right about the quality of your RCA's and running the power and the RCA's together. I had the installer run RCA's down one side of my truck and the power wire down the other. Check the grounds too !!! Good Luck
 






i have high quality monster cable rca's. power wire is run on one side of the car, speaker and rcas are on the other side.
i have an alpine mrv-t757-no probs running subs. and two alpine mrv-t303s-one for midrange and one for tweets. i dont think its my equipment.
should i not connect the amp to bare metal? would that cause it?
how much do the rca filters cost?
 






Your amp should not be placed on bare metal. That is probably source of the noise. The filter couldnt hurt, though. Mount the amp on a 1/2 inch piece of wood or something(such as your sub box.) The filters are pretty cheap, like 10 to 20$.
 






ahhh... im gonna take it off the bare metal . i thought it might be that. as soon as i mounted it to the metal it started making the sound. duh tim.

well, i was hoping there would be a quick fix there... but no.
looks like im gonna have to pull up all the wiring away from the body and single out every part of the line.
oh dear
and if that doesn't work its time for those noise filters.
ill let you know how it turns out
 






mtxplorer, dont rule out that it is your patch cables. Often times this is the main source of noise entering a system. Try this:
Disconnect the patch cords from your amp. Insert either the left or right side of a spare patch cord into your amps left or right input jacks. Turn on your system and your engine. If the noise is gone, reconnect the your patch cords to your amp, and disconnect the patch cords from your in-dash reciever. If you still have noise now, its definitely being picked up by your patch cords. Try re-routing your patch cords. Are your patch cables the twisted pair design? These are the best in noise suppression. The noise could be also coming in through the speaker wire. To test this, disconnect the speaker wires from your amp. Start the car. If the noise is still present, then it is being radiated directly into the speaker wires. Move the speaker leads. The noise could also be coming in from your electrical system. Try filling your battery with fluid. Your alternator mitght be acting, or you could just need a good ole tune-up.
Make real sure you have a good ground. I used the bolts that hold the back seats down. Scrap away the paint and bolt your ground down real tight. Also, make sure your amp housing is isolated from the car chassis ground. Mount the amp on something like a piece of wood or your speaker box. I hope some of this helps....

mtxplorer... i agree that it sounds like a alternator whine, my dad's car does the same thing. I asked people about it and it could be about 1,000,000 different things causing it. What he finally did was he took it to a tune shop, if you have one near you that's what i suggest. They do a good job and most are fairly inexpensive, and you know it will get fixed properly.
