buzzing under dash when turn signals used

hi, i am back on the forum with a 2000 i picked up for a whole 900. actually i consder it 400 since the junkyard will give 500 for a trashed vehicle. When the turn signals are used there is a buzzing noise from under the dash. Is this a removable plug like other cars? anyone know the number of the part? Is it thee samee for all 95-01 trucks? I am off to thee junkyard today.

Is the buzzing from under the dash, or in the steering column. My 96 will sometimes buzz in the multifunction switch if I manually hold the turn signal switch and relax the pressure. If I "lock" the switch in place, there is no noise.

If its under the dash its a square flasher relay most stock ones are yellow and they can get hot enough to melt and burn when there bad.

Is the flasher located close to where the buzzing could be heard as if coming from the multifunction switch? I have a hard time getting under the dash to see. The old body doesn't twist as good as it usedto.

As I recall its behind the panel but close to the column and it plugs into a pigtail that's clipped to the dash frame. My wife's 98 was doing it cause someone had put a cheap one in I pulled a yellow ford one out of a 95 and it fixed it. If you drop the plastic panel then the steel plate under the column its not to bad im able to get in there that way an im not a small guy and i have some problems twisting too hope this helps .

Thanks a bunch. That could have been where mine was buzzing as well, instead of the MFS. I' ve had that panel off before, but not looking for the flasher, removing an aftermarket theft alarm. Hope that helps the OP.

All fixed, thanks as always forum - it was the MFS

ALthough the yellow relay under the dash was the location of the buzzing, it was the short in the MFS. Part of the reason I bought another explorer as my work truck was the value of this forum. I bought a junkyard MFS for $12 and the relay was also pulled. I replaced the relay first and then the MFS.
All is good!!!
