CAI and cat back installed..feels slower?

2017 explorer sport. Installed an airaid cai and Borla sport cat back.. I swear it feels slower, less boost. Sounds awesome but it definitely feels slower. From what I read the explorer will not make any power no matter what you add unless it’s tuned. I do have the livernois tuner on order but it’s on back order for another 5 weeks.
Any ideas?

have you done a relearn? can you see if theres less boost? sometimes factory tunes cannot compensate for stuff so it eends hp being worse

What’s a relearn? There is no factory boost gauge but boost used to be much more pronounced. I’ve tried turning off all the Nannie’s and even tried to launch in sand mode, which before was impressive off the line. Now is not much difference. Boost hits really late in second gear..
btw the car is ford certified with just 50k on it.

The intake yes I did. it was pretty easy. Exhaust was pro done.

Unhook the negative battery terminal for 10 minutes. Then restart and let idle for 2 minutes before you drive. The transmission will be clunky at first so drive semi normal for first 20 miles.

Well… Livernois tune installed. Power restored and then about 100hp, 80lb torque more on top. Running the 93 octane tune. Btw.. they gave me 5 tunes for free. 93,91,87 octane plus a 93 tow ( I have a 4K lb boat) and.. my original stock tune just in case I need to have warranty work done. Another fact, you don’t have to leave the tuner plugged in after you upload tunes.kinda cool.
Now let’s get to it…. This thing is an absolute beast now. The difference is shocking. It drives completely normal until you mash the pedal. Tires spinning, instant power. No boost lag. It does have some torque steer so pay attention! Shifts way cleaner, quicker and harder and makes the back end dip every shift. I’m beyond impressed. I’ve been tuning turbo cars for 20 yrs and it’s never been this easy and perfect. And waaay cheaper. Granted I’m into the build for about $2500 plus. Here’s what it has.
1. Tuner 600
2. Colder Plugs 100
3. Colder thermostat 60
4. 3 bar map sensor 100
5. Air raid intake 350
6. Borla S type cat back 1350 installed. And, yeah it really sounds awesome. Not too loud, no drone at cruising.
If your on the fence about tuning.. just do it. You will be so impressed! It’s the most dramatic powerful mod you can do. If you want more? Add bolt ons and ask for a new tune with the mods you added. Enjoy the smiles

I like the Borla S type muffler. I put one on my van without the resonator, you can hear it a mile away.
