oh ya the deaver's...i know Josh S got some a while back w/custom shackles from deaver directly....as you guys know deaver doesn't make a leaf specificly...they start out with the ranger spring and actually add another 2-5 leave's (depending on the height you want) it basically a custom order as i found out it'll take a week to get the spring ordered and made from deaver
So how do you guys like the setup?? i like the fact that the monoball is located under the upper arm as opposed to being through it....it makes the angle a lot better than the stock ball joints....just my 2 cents

yeah i would rather have a horizontal uniball setup but i dont have the type of spindle or want to get one made for it. with the horizontal uniball you wount have to worry about binding at full droop or bottomed out. a lot of people now are using horizontal uni uppers now, at least from what ive seen

ya you're right... i've seen dixon brothers racing...they basically have the same exact kit as the camburg one with the horizontal monoball

except that the dixon is a longtravel and uses fabbed uppers and lowers. they also use a high angle balljoint with the stock spindle and say it gets 20 degrees more angle than a verticle uniball. if i had the money i would be all over that but i just dont have that much right now...

camburg is coming out with their longtravel too...i saw it being fabbed up the last time i was there....so far they had boxed uppers and lowers, cut out the upper shock mount to do a hoop for the coilbucket, heimed steering, and they had some performance rotors and calipers to go with it....it looked so sweet i asked how much and they told me 7,500-10,000 depending on the coilover you wanna run.....24-30" of travel

yah got the deavers, however I only have one rear shock on there right now, broke the other one off, so I can't really use em that well. my shackles were made at wicked creations, not deaver...don't think deaver does any fab other than their springs.

looks really good man! glad to see your truck continue to the next level. missed you out at the night race on saturday night tho!! it was cool

holy **** they were claiming 24-30" of travel! must be like 10" wider per side. those class 1 race cars with arms that are like 2.5 feet long dont even pull that much! that would be sick if it really did!

Thanks Josh..
Dave..i believe it was 6" wider per side.....and the reason it was 24" of travel on this particular one he was doing is b/c it was one of the race trucks...the production kit will be 14-20"(sorry for the confusion)
i just ordered the deaver's yesterday should be a week before they come in i'm hopefully getting those u-bolt plates from a member here, i just don't know if my 1" extended driveshaft will be ok or not...guess i'll just have to wait and find out b/c i don't wanna spend money on a new driveshaft unless i have to...
I want to get more opinions on what everyone thinks of this kit but no one else has really responded....ahhhh well i'm happy w/it thats all that matters

oh ok that sounds more reasonable. even 14-20 sounds like a lot but i bet it will be able to pull that. where did you order your deavers and how much did they cost?

ordered through Camburg... $550 for the springs, bushings, and u-bolts and i'm gonna have them install them too along w/new trac bars for $700 out the door

expensive but i hear its worth it. do they usually put trac bars on the explorers when they do the deaver set up?

no they don't put trac bars on but trac bars come stock w/v-8's and i've driven both with and without them and i want to keep them on....and believe it or not thats not expensive for deaver's....expensive for replacement leaves yes, but not expensive for deavers....they're the best in the biz so you get what you pay for

OK, I just want to get this all summarized...

For the Camburg kit, what exactly is included in the kit, and how much did it cost? Was the installation done by them? I live in Florida, so I can't have them install it. I have the 3" ProComp spindles. Does this kit replace them, or are these modified, or do they work as is? Also, I'm guessing shocks are not included, correct? Thanks...

yes camburg installed it....but they have lift shops that carry their kit so you should be able to find someone in FL...the kit includes: 3.5" uniball spindles(replaces the pro comps they will not be used or modified)(also the 'snout' on the stock spindle must be used it's pressed out of the stock spindle and into the camburg spindle), boxed upper a-arms,extended brake lines, limit straps, and does include bilstein 5100 shocks: 1550 parts for the single shock system or 1800 installed...1950 parts for dual shock system or 2300 installed....i got it installed and upgraded shocks to bilstein 5150's for: $1850 b/c i paid cash

Thanks for the reply. One more question, did it widen the front track on your X?

yeah the spindles they use are 1.5" wider per side as opposed to the procomp spindle which is only 3/4" wider per side

Just a little update here--being that it's been so hot out the lubrication within the uni-ball dries out pretty quick...depending on how much you drive it you will have to relube it every couple weeks....all i did was crank the wheel one way, spray some wd-40 on the ball and then crank it back the other way and spray some more on the other side of the ball until all the grease/wd-40 works itself onto the whole ball....
Oh ya and i'm goin to camburg next tuesday for deaver's...wish me luck...still need to find a driveshaft

WD-40 is the **** for sure man, but when you're down at camburg or talkin to them on the phone I would check to make sure that's the proper lubricant for your heims...expensive **** man, make sure you're takin care of it right

thats true. i believe many dont use WD-40 for long uses. it might work good to fix a squeek but i think u should be using actual greese. That would very likely protect longer and last longer. definately something that i would look into. BTW, i picked up my air bumps for the front and rear shocks yesterday :-)
