Camping Help

We are new to camping. We would like to find an area where we can camp near a stream or lake and do it legally. Anyone know of any places in Arizona where this is possible?

We would be camping in the explorer.

BLM land is open for primitive camping unless posted. Bartlett Lake and Saguaro Lake have primitive camping opportunities and their are a bunch of trails that run along rivers. The Table Mesa trail East of I-17 follows a river.
