So I want to hook up an ipod to my oem headunit for my 2003 Eddie Bauer. I don't want to go aftermarket cause I wanna keep my steering wheel controls and I'm happy with the sound I just want to hook up an ipod to it.

I have done some research and I see that if my deck had the aux (which it doesn't) that I could get an adapter to make it work.

My question is... I have access to a stock head unit out of 2006 explorer that has the aux button on it. Can I put the 2006 oem deck in my 2003?

Thanks

it depends on the color of the plugs in back of the radio, they have to be both black or grey. Also check the 20-pin connector you should only find two wires (steering wheel). The rest of the 20-pin is for the Rear DVD but it will also take an iPod adapter, PIE makes one, it plugs between radio and oem harness. . someone did this not to long ago.
