can anybody help fix my four wheel drive?

i have a 94 xlt explorer with manual locking hubs. I have been having a problem with the four wheel drive when it is in 4x4 I have clunking/popping noise while driving down the road when i lift it off the ground and engage the 4x4 i notice that the driverside wheel spins slowly or not all while the other three wheels spin normally. does anybody have any ideas on what could be wrong and how can i fix this problem.

it actually sounds like your 4x4 is working, only one front wheel will spin because you have an open front differential

Your noise may be a worn U joint in the driveshaft or the front axleshafts.
