I bought a rebuilt transmission at the beginning of december. Bought it from a junkyard, didnt work, they had it rebuilt at a tranny shop, and it worked.

A block away from home today, it started pulling funny. It felt the same as when the clutch is slipping in a manual, but it's an auto. I feathered the throttle to get it home. when i opened the door, white smoke was coming from underneath (i guess from the tranny). It's leaked about 1/4 - 1/2 quart of tranny fluid and stopped.

I waited about 3 hours then started it up put it in gear and backed it up about 10 feet and it felt the same.

I've put less than 1,000 miles in it since i got it. So does anyone have any idea what is wrong with it?

it's still acting the same. so what can i do to try and fix it?

find your leak, it could be the cooler lines, it could be the trans is getting hot and puking fluid, it could also be the dreaded front pump seal leak. You need to find the source of the leak and make sure you have the correct fluid level

I hate to say it but when you rebuild an A4LD thats usually when the problems START, they are tricky to rebuild and it must be done RIGHT, not budget...hopefully you got a warranty?

id dint get a warranty as i'm not the one who had it rebuilt.

well, i put trans-x in it (i guess it's like stop leak meets restore) and filled it with high mileage tranny fluid til it was a bit above full. let it run for about 20 minutes and it still was slipping or whatnot. But NO leaking and NO smoking.
