I don't know about the A4LD, but some of the trannies which fit the smaller V6s aren't as beefy internally as those originally built to be behind the 4.0l. Hopefully someone else will have a definitive answer.

A '95 Explorer should have a 4R55E, which is very similar to the A4LD, except that it is electronically controlled. I haven't ever thought through adapting the electronics, but I expect your '95 PCM is not going to like not having control over the shifts. You're going to have to become familiar with the electronics enough to figure out how to get your '95 computer to control the 3-4 shift and TCC lockup clutch.

A 3.0 L has a different bellhousing than the 4.0L, so, assuming both transmissions have a removable bellhousing, you'll need to swap bellhousings.

The ad also says that it is a 2wd transmission and won't work in 4wd applications. You don't say whether you '95 is 2wd or 4wd, but, if 4wd, know that you'll have some work to do to convert to 4wd.

Your computer will not operate a 4ALD, as pointed out it is a weaker trans, and it won't bolt up to your engine, even if you have the electronic knowledge and mechanical skills to make it work. You will spend more time and money than the trans cost and have a bad job in the end. Best advice is don't even think about it.

Thanx for the heads up guys. Can someone tell me what year i can put in and its a 4x4.I was told thru 98 would work, but then someone else said only 95/96?

Only a 95 or 96 4R55E, 4X4 will work with no modifications. Your trans is a 4R55E, a 98 is a 5R55E. A 98 5R55E requires changing solenoids and some sensors to the ones used in the 4R55E to make it work. Your PCM (computer) will not operate a 98 5R55E without modifying the 98 trans, and no you can't change the computer to make it work, your wiring won't match.
You shouldn't start 2 threads and ask the same questions in both. BrooklynBay already gave you the same answer in the other thread and he is very knowledgeable.
