I just bought a low cost lithium jump starter and I wanted to check whether it can jump the Explorer for 10 seconds.
I thought it would be simplest to hold the gas pedal to the floor, if that is an option, to prevent starting, else I have to find the fuel pump relay or fuse, which is a pain, as I have look it up, as it's not marked in the FB

Yes holding the pedal to the floor should prevent the engine from starting

This is called “flood mode”

It also allows you to build up oil pressure before the engine fires off, which is awesome for these sohc engines

The fuel pump fuse is not hard to find when you have this:

Fuse 23 under hood power box

Thanks!
Worked great, The jumper box cranked for about 5-6 seconds, and reset with no battery connected, and allowed 3 more attempts, so it should work most of the time, in a pinch

Just make sure you push it all the way to the floor.

I used to start my '97 SOHC truck this way and one day I guess I had the pedal at like 90% instead of 100%. Started right up with a blip of the key and hit 5k+ rpm in an instant -- it did not sound happy haha
