I just purchased a 2001 explorer XLS. Does this model come with trailer wiring? I have looked everywhere but I can't find it. But then I have been known to be somewhat blind. Also, I will be hauling a 1200 lb boat. Can I use the bumper hitch for this purposr. Thanks Tim

Do not know if it is the same, but mine was right behind the driverside rear light.

wouldn't tow with the bumper if I were you, it may work with the boat being that light but you should probably just install a hitch. I just did my class III this evening, pretty straight forward. Took about 1/2 hour & bolted right on. The wiring should be below the drivers side taillight-look up under there & you should see a grey connector with a red cover. I purchased the $10 adapter to plug into that which turns it into a standard 4 wire plug & I'm ready to go.

Look for a parts recycler- whether a junkyard or whatever- go to www.car-part.com and search for hitches in your area- I got mine for $15 and 5 minutes/4 bolts later, I was all set. :)
