Does anyone else have a problem when turning right at night when there is no street light? It seems the headlight doesn't shine enough towards the right. I asked the dealer if it could be fixed and I was told I would have to pay for it because it's considered a cosmetic problem and after 12,000 miles, cosmetic problems aren't covered. I don't consider not being able to see when turning right a cosmetic problem.

Can't say that I've had any problems with this situation. If you have the fog lights, they might help a bit since they light up the area closer to the vehicle. I don't really use mine.

3 lefts make a right. Problem solved. :D

My Explorer's headlights don't light up much past directly in front of the vehicle. From what the dealer said it sounds like they can be adjusted so I'll ask if anyone out there knows how to adjust them?

You can only adjust the height. Not left/right. It outlines the process how in the manual. I've done it and it's very simple. Just need a Phillips screwdriver.

No issues here, I have HIDs and don't really notice bad spots

Do you have HID's Peanut. Mine are HID. And they light up the right side like there's no tomorrow.I love it. Not sure why you would have this prob. Hmmmmmm.

The cutoffs on the beam pattern on the new Explorers is much more pronounced than on older vehicles I have owned.

That said, the lighting on mine is just fine for my tastes.

My '09 Buick Enclave had articulating headlamps, also HID. These turned slightly in the direction of the turn. Can't say I really miss them with my Exp HID lights, but it would be nice to have.

Maybe I will try the HID lights. Even my husband has a problem with it so I know it's just not me, which is usually the case! I do get a lot of people flashing at me, must be blinding them! Thanks for the input!

I would definitely check and make sure they are not aimed too high. This could be also causing your problem.

I confirmed you have a follow-up call from Tiffani scheduled, peanut0426; let me know via PM if you’d like any details forwarded before then.

No-Left-Turn Software Saves UPS a Bundle

We all know that sitting in a left-hand-turn lane or waiting to turn across lanes of oncoming traffic can be time-consuming and even treacherous. The New York Times Magazine has a great article by Joel Lovell on a highly focused effort by UPS to eliminate left-hand turns from its drivers’ delivery routes. The company is using a “package flow” software program to pre-plot delivery sequences for its 95,000 vehicles. It may sound comically ****-retentive, but the results are staggering: Lovell reports that UPS lopped off some 28.5 million miles from its delivery routes last year thanks to the software, saving 3 million gallons of fuel and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by close to 69 million pounds. We have to wonder: If such a strategy can yield this kind of savings for UPS, what can it do for the average person? How much fuel, time, and sanity might we save in a year of driving if we pre-planned errand-running to minimize (or even eliminate) left-hand turns?
