Hi guys. First Post...

I'll be taking delivery of my Explorer tomorrow and will soon be looking into something to protect the rear compartment.

The Mrs and I will most likely not be using the rear seats and will have them in the reclined position to accomodate the canine.

Does anyone know of a tasteful custom fit product that I could use to protect the rear interior? I'm thinking something pliable and and maybe rollable not the hard shell type. I might even have to stop into the local carpet store and cut one myself, but I'd rather have something that fits properly.

Thanks!

Paul

Wait. What happened? I thought this site was for Ford Explorers. What's with all the Aztecs?

I have one of these and it works great to protect my truck from wet scuba equipment.

Hi, I think you need the kind of cargo tray as shown in one of your replies and a kind of carpet you make yourself for the whole compartment when not using the back seats. I am thinking about of cutting a carpet (soft) to fit the compartment and to shelter it from the hair of our dogs

I just took all the carpet in my explorer (cargo area, everywhere else there was carpet) and installed a roll on truck bed liner (Herculiner). I love it! I can now take a garden hose to the interior and wash it right out. This is just my trail explorer but I love the way it turned out.

Brian do you have any pictures of what it looks like? Also is the dash and stuff water resistant or do you have to be careful where you spray the water?

I will have pics up soon. I covered all the wiring w/ herculiner so it is waterproof now. Like I said this is not my daily driver just used for offroad events. I dont worry about the splash on the dash board but I try to just aim the water at the floor.

How about this.
Should be easy to clean dog hair off.

Yeah, that's more like it. Thanks! Who makes it? Not too keep on the color, though...

Husky Liner makes what you are looking for. I have Husky liners in every vehicle I own, and my parents own. Here in Denver with the snow/slush/mud/gravel on the roads theyare a must. Just hang them up at the car wash and spray them down. I have had mine in my Bronco for almost 4 years and the diamond tread has worn down in a couple spots but they still rock! I have even used them as sleds! Yes thats right sleds, we were camping in the mountains after a 6" snow storm (we like bonfires & kegs) and we got the bright idea to go "hookie bobbing" or basically strap yourself into a sled and get yanked down the road by a truck. Well we didnt have sleds with us this trip so my floormats were recruited, they worked better then the plastic sleds!!!!

Oh and then at the junk yard a few months back I spotted one of those cargo liners (Husky liner brand) in an Explorer! I hauled it out of there for free (they run over $200) and when I went to install it in my buddies X we found it was way too big, for a suburban or something, so I cleaned it up, took out my cargo liner carpetand trimmed it to size. One of the best mods I have ever done to my truck, and it was free!!!!! It wipes clean and really protects the cargo area........
