'93 XLT
Just found this list, wish I had known about it sooner...

I have a '93 2x XLT, I just moved to Western PA and found out last night that on ice my E makes a great carnival ride (not a good thing with my wife and 3 year old on board)

This thing is almost paid off so I hate the thought of trading it in (got it used, paid more than I should have but it's been a GREAT truck)

Question is would a couple hundred pounds in the rear end help out any... thinking about tube sand.

Looking for a cheap 4x that I can play with, but until then I don't want to take my wife's front wheel drive car away from her...

Any thoughts on this?

Well I hope I do not sound like I am preaching or anything in my very first post on here, but you can add weight to the back of your X and have it help out some. BUT there will always be a situation where all the weight in the world will not help.

My best advise is if the weather is lousy just take extra time and be as careful as possible.:)

I Agree

I've got a 4x and haven't used it in two years!!, I live in maine, so the winters naturely suck. But i seem to do just fine, i'm enjoying it in fact. 4x4 won't help in all Ice. To demonstrate, Drive on to an ice covered pond, with no snow on top of it. Punch the gas........SPIN...This test will work in either a 2x or 4x. I have to say that the biggest compliant i have with being in 2x all the time is my complex curiosity for spinning around and around for fun. My girlfriend will never understand.

Point...Get used to feeling your truck, it's center of balance it's placment while driving, and while sliding. I wouldn't add alot more wieght but may be a couple sand bags in the middle of the chassi (up against the rear seat not against tail gate) Later

Psyko - where in Maine?
