As grandparents, we installed two car seats in the 2nd row Captains' Chairs. It is necessary to remove (easy)the 2nd row console to gain access to the 3rd row seating when the car seats are installed. For whatever reason, Ford cut out the carpeting under the console, even though the console outline rests on the carpet. Our solution was to work with the great folks at Quality Carmats (Natalie). With a minor adjustment, they have a 2nd row floor mat with a TAB that covers the hole in the carpet. We asked them to increase the width of the TAB from their standard 12 inches to 13 inches (at no charge) to cover the hole. You will need to measure the dimensions of your carpet hole to ensure a correct fit. We also bought from Ford a cover (5F9Z-7404752-AC) for the exposed console bracket (same bracket as OEM cover for vehicles without console). We recommend Ford not cut a hole in the carpet for those owners who may want to remove the console. Until that time, give Quality Carmats a try: mail@qualitycarmats.com
