I'm new to explorers...just bought my 92 XLT with 180k on it the other day for 100 bucks off of a friend. The exhaust needs replacing and I figured why not just straight pipe the sucker. Any companies that make complete exhaust kits that remove the cats? Or am I stuck getting a catback system and having something custom made up in between?

Thanks,
Colin

i just went and bought pipe, cut and welded it all together. i havent seen a company that makes an exhaust to do away with the cat.

lol thanks. I figured as much, but it was worth a shot anyways. Always nice to have an excuse to get that welder out again i guess ;)

straight pipe will sound like butt though, and you will also lose low end tourqe. but it is loud enough to piss everyone that lives around you off.

hmmm, noise is no issue since this is strictly winter transportation and i have no neighbors lol. But the loss of low end will bother me...I guess i'll just go with a catback system...maybe some headers and a hi-flow cat.

i'm takin the cats off of mine and welding in a smaller diameter tubing in place of them to keep the low end torque.. and a higher flow muffler to further the flow
