I just finally replaced my OEM cat with a high flow from Summit. Now it is running like crap. Really bad low rpm power, bad mileage and a cool running cat. My truck will shimmy a lot when I drop down to 15-1700 rpms on the highway. NEVER did any of this before.

Obviously I have a problem. Can new cats be that bad?

Who told you that your CAT was out of warranty? ALL aftermarket CATs are warranted for 50,000 miles per Federal EPA requirements.

1. Markedly decreased low rpm power.
2. Engine runs a little hotter than normal at constant cruising speeds.
3. Exhaust leaks near header that won't seal in spite of new gaskets.
4. Bucking or hesitation while accelerating.
5. Cat's exterior surface temp cooler near outlet.
6. Vehicle on fire.

Yea i first took out my cat and knocked all the stuff out.
Don't do it your x will sound so bad you will want to shoot yourself so i welded a piece of pipe in there with my flowmaster it sounds good but i lost alot of low end but gained alot of high end so i would think twice about it again.
good luck
mine did all that same crap too all you need to do is replace the 02 sensors they make alot if difference. mine smelled like propane and bucked and ran like crap check engine all the works try the o2 sensors.

The Ford dealer said 1 year or 12K i beleive...The part stores didn't have a cat for me and said it is a dealer part..

I'd tell your Ford Dealer they can go pound salt and need to brush up on their emission warranty requirements. All replacement converters regardless of who MFG'd or sold it are warranted for 5/50 by Federal law. Also, was this new converter on your MOUNTY? If so, I hope you didn't pay for it as MA also falls under the 7/70 California emissions warranty.
