catback vs muffler

hi there just wondering right now on my 08 explorer v6 i have a magnaflow muffler 14". If i replace with the catback system for my truck will it give more hp or better mpg than just the muffler. And also the system comes with a 22" muffler but it removes the resonator would it be as loud as the maganflow muffler 14" or quieter thanks.

It's gonna be cheaper for you to just have the resonator removed! Paying the money for the mandrel bent fatback is not gonna get you any more power unless you working with forced induction!

I have an adrenalin tip if you want it!? Put that on and have the resonator cut out and you'll be goon to gosound and power. Checkout my exhaust soundclip in the sig below

honestly probably the same....thee 22" muffler will be quieter bit the catback system eliminates the resonator which I beleive you still have. So in all it will even out to sound like what you have now.

cat back will probly be slightly louder, but not much.
it might also give you a little power, not alot though

Sweet video of your exhaust system on You Tube. I have watched it many times.
I am thinking about putting the FM 50SUV on my ride and have a buddy at work with a SportTrac V8 who is also after hearing how good yours sounds. The one thing we are not sure about is how it will sound inside. Is there anyway you could post a quick video of how it sounds from the inside along with some comparative sounds like the turn signal while accerelating normally cruising and at idle?

is this the muffler because the muffler shop that i went to told me it was but i think its the resonator. they put a magnaflow muffler 14" in place of this.

Not exactly sure by the EXTREMELY LARGE PICTURE
But you should have had the exhaust shop take out both the resonator and the muffler!

You should only need an aftermarket muffler and no resonator!
In fact I am taking my Adrenalin out to the shop next week to get the cat's removed and install hi-flow cats!

Honestly it's gonna be pretty hard to do an interior video. The "Dragon" intake under the hood is not gonna give you a true sound of what the exhaust sounds like!

Plus I'm getting my custom Y-pipe installed today!

It looks to me that the above picture is the muffler, but don't take my word for it I removed them Both!

Thanks, yeah I understand how the intake and new Y pipe might make it sound different that just the muffler. I have read that another user said that it adds a low rumble and is quiet at 60+ cruising so I amy just have to go with that. Thanks again for the outside video you did post.

can somebody please let me know if the picture adobe is a muffler or resonator for an 08 v6 explorer and also do you think a cat-back would quieter than just a 14 inch muffler since the cat back muffler is 22 inch. Thanks

i want to get muffler swapped out for something quieter and the muffler shop I go to recommend a dynomax super turbo what do you guys think.

I had Dynomax ST's on my late 80's Mustang GT. From what I remember they were decent sounding and a little quiter than the 3 chamber Flowmaster's at the time. Not sure how they compare to the Magnaflow.
