CCR2001 UPDATED!

Dosen't matter if its in writing if they didn't tell you or have you sign something prior to them charging it... Tell the CC company and I bet they'll take care of it... They never made you aware of it until AFTER they mailed you info... BOGUS... This would probably be an easy case in small claims court... Just to show these yahoo's that they should tell people before they just go charging them willy nilly...

I agree with you and everybody that a $75 cancellation charge is outrageous. The thing to remember here is that the reservation was made thru a reservation service (Summit County Reservations). This so called handling fee is charged by them, not the hotel.

Using one of these services saves you a lot of time trying to find accomodations because they typically represent a number of clients from private rentals to national chains. But 'there's no free lunch'. Somebody has to pay for the service performed.

Has anybody bought concert or theater tickets through TicketMaster or any other agency lately? Convenience fees, facility charges, etc. When you break down the cost into all the details, you'll see that the price for the concert is probably less than half.

Sorry for the sidetrack. Just my own little rant.

Accually this fee goes right to the condo. Its the Condo's deal not the services'. If the Service had charged something like this, then everyone who is cancled at the Sheraton would be getting the same fee.

They should have explained the cancellation policy when you made the reservation. I normally book directly with a chain's own reservation service (Best Western, Quality Inns, Marriott, etc.). They won't even give you a confirmation number until they run thru the cancellation policy. Most of the time you can cancel until 4 or 6pm at day of scheduled arrival. In resort areas like Moab or Aspen and Vail they sometimes want 24-48 hrs.

Peter

Trust me, next time I will be a whole lot more careful! IF I were to cancel within 14 days of the day I was supposed to be there I would loose the whole amount. Next time I will know not to give out a card unless I know all the details of how things work.

Lonewolf will be there!!

hey lonewolf, where will you be staying? Do you need a roomie? Not for me, but Geralds probably gonna need one as I kicked him out of mine when a previously invited guest I thought didn't want to go anymore actually DID want to go, but I did apologize!

Roomate?

I have to find out if any of the people I invited can attend first. They will get first dibbs on the room. After I get any yeas or nays, I ll let everyone know if I have room for a, um a, well - a roomate. :D

Does eneyone need a roomie ? I was hopeing to be there friday night sat. and sunday.

Wade

To those wanting a roomate for the weekend, I will know AFTER this weekend if any of the people I invited will be comming.

If their answers are no, then I will be up for a roomie if you don't mind being in the same room with an accused snorer (I've never heard the proof that I snore :D ). We could split the room charge in half. My room is supposed to be a double queen bed room.

It looks like we might be adding a few people to CCR2001 - that's great! Just as a reminder though, when you do firm up your plans, please e-mail me at ccr2001@juno.com so I can add your name to the itinerary list... Thanks!

Due to errors in judgement, I may not be able to attend.

More at later date and time - I have lots of people to talk to first.

Okay everyone, we're almost ready to release the trail itinerary for CCR2001. Just need to run one more this weekend. Look for it to be up by Monday the 6th...

THAT IS NOT A GOOD THING!!!!

We want to see the "BEAST" in action. (The truck that is)

tdavis - That's a very curious statement you made! I only hope it's nothing serious/family related. Hope it's just that you've rolled your truck one too many times and it's finally given up... ;) Let us know.

Chris, where's the pre-run and when? I may be able to go this weekend. (Emphasis on MAY.)

Hey DarkMan! We're actually going to run Holy Cross this Saturday - supposedly one of the hardest trails in Colorado. I'll be leaving my truck at the bottom and riding with someone, but wanted to get pics/video for those attending CCR2001. You're welcome to come, but I don't think BamBam would be a happy truck! We plan to meet at the Conoco off of I-70 and the Morrison exit at 7am...

Question for everyone attending CCRY2K.01

I have a friend that I have wheeled with all summer (who actually taught me alot about the sport), that would be interested in joining with us to wheel during the CCR. The thing is, he drives a modified Jeep Wrangler.

Would any of you have any objections of him and his wife joing us for the weekend?

He is prety experienced, and has done some rather rough trails, so he would have no problems keeping up with anybody.

I just wanted to ask and make sure that it wouldn't offend anyone first.

Thank you.

I don't have a problem with that...

Glad you asked, Jared. While I'd say "go for it" to your friend, my only concern is that I wouldn't want too many non-Explorers on the CCR for two reasons. #1) It becomes no longer a "true Explorer Run" and makes for difficulties in taking pictues of just the Explorers. #2) If everybody invited friends, that could make for one heckofa traffic jam on the trail (and a logistical nightmare for those planning the event)... ;)
