'96 XLT
I remember several month back some discussion about installing a DC player in an Explorer, but can't find the link. I have a 96 XLT with the Preimium sound system. The sound is great, but can't live with those stinkin little tapes any longer. The XLT is purely stock (60,000 Miles) so I want to add the CD with as little modification to the dash as possible. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also have a slightly bent rear bumper (backed into a stump) and wondered if there is any hope of straightening it or should I just replace it?

I got a ford cd player for my 96 from ebay and just "pull and pushed". When you say "premium", I assume that means you have an external amp in the cargo compartment... right? My 96 didn't, so it was easier, I guess. From my travels, the best advice was to ensure that the connectors on the "target unit" are the same as those are on the current regardless of years / model numbers as I found that there was some "confusion" as to what fit and what didn't. The audio section has some "guidelines" for this and other things related to the external amp.
