Rewiring Console CD Player for CB Radio??

I'm trying to see what the possibility and difficulty would be to tear out the Existing CD player and installing a CB radio?
Is the power in the console or does it snake through to the dash and tie into the rest of the radio.
It is a 1996 Explorer XLT.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There is power going to the CD player in the console, but you could always tap into the power outlet that's on the side of the console.

are you just trying to use that location?

i have a 3rd gen with no cd player, i just put mine here

very easy to access, the console may be a little awkward having to reach over the lid when open...

Awesome, thanks for the info guys. This is my first explorer project and I'm just trying to see what is possible with this truck.
I foresee lots of fun.
Yes I do plan on using the location, I'm just gonna remove the hatch for my console and just leave it open.
