2002 Explorer XLT 4 x 4
A few weeks ago the battery died in my 2002 Explorer XLT. We got a new one and we're back on the road.

Just after that incident I did check to make sure I could play all 6 CD's in the stock CD changer. Today, I went to play a CD and it will not play any of them and will not eject any of them.

What can I do now? I need to either get them out or get them to play....any ideas?

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

hmm.. Does your radio even have power? Does it display the clock? Check the fuse.

I do have power to the radio. Clock display is fine. I can change stations without problems and programmed stations work just fine.

When I try to play a cd or eject it, it tries to, then when it can't follow through everything shuts off and just displays the time.

I guess I'll have to hope Santa brings me a new Explorer tonight.

Mine does the same thing. I get the message "CD Error" whenever I try to get one to do anything. I just assumed it had gotten tired, and gave up the ghost. :D

Bought mine that way, seller told me there's a bunch of CDs in the radio, you can have 'em if you can get them out!!

I also had the ERROR code on the radio display no matter what I tried.

So, I grabbed a thin cooking pin from the kitchen the kind you use hold up a cooking bag and has a round finger ring to pull with.

Bend the tip over to make a hook, reached in and snagged a cd through the center hole and pulled it out. That was a victory!! But, still the error code, I then disconnected the battery for a minute, re attached, hit cd eject and to my amazement it started pumping out cd's!! Got some nice classic rock cds like boston, journey, etc.

All is good now, hope this helps

Otherwise just take the radio out of the dash and take the radio apart piece by piece. Perhaps you can find the problem and fix your radio.

If you make your own CD's, don't put labels on them.

I had heard this before but I still put one in yesterday.
Sure enough, it would not eject...
When I would press eject, I could see it try to come out, but maybe with the label it was a little too thick to come though that fuzzy.

So some tiny tweezers, and I was able to grab it.

Plus if the label comes off inside - your "shagged"
