Not covered in the OM. Is it constant on or, is it tied to a timer so as to cease functioning after the ignition is shut off ? When asked, sales peep had the classic deer in the headlights look.

One way to find out is to plug something into it after the vehicle has been shut off for some time. More than 10 minutes I'd say. My guess is that it would be OFF just like the other 12V power points.
I think this statement in the Manual would also suggest that they don't stay ON.
Note:When you switch the ignition on, you
can use the socket to power 12 volt appliances....

Thank you. I kind of suspected as much. Service dept was clueless. As is the norm, it seems the end user is more enlightened. Crazy ..........

The power points being ON or OFF was also a discussion topic in the 5th generation Forum, especially when a new model year came out.:confused2:

lol I even googled it and couldn't get an answer. I think I'll plug in my LED trouble light and see what happens.
