Hey guys I probably actually could do this in less than what it takes to type this post but talk is cheap. I'm always werious about removing interior bits for fear I'm going to break something.

This is in regards to my post the other day about the CD player not playing home burnt CDs. I reporterd that it wouldn't play "blue" CDs so I tried a Phillips "Green" CD and the same thing. The CD player says no disk.

Burning CDs in CD format is a bit old school if you ask me unless the radio can read a disk in MP3 format.

Photobucket won't cooperate today so here's a pic of what I've been using for years:

I like this unit because there's no wires to it. It reads off a thumbdrive or SD card. Not the best sounding thing on the market but it's pretty good.

So I'd like to just remove the 6 disk CD changer so I can free up some more room in my center console for junk.

Best I can tell all I need to do is pull the change holder out and remove four screws and the unit should unplug but I don't know if that's all required or if it will affect the radio operation.

So how do you remove this dog?

Just how you said. You will remove the armrest pad hinge to get to the bolt underneath. It won't affect your radio otherwise.

doing the same thing - have an aftermarket stereo and i do not have the cassette for the changer (never did - bought truck used) and thought i would like to have some more space in the arm rest - guess i am not tugging hard enough - got it to the point where it is free and just the wiring is holding it up - will go tug a little harder - this site is awesome - glad i came across it

i pulled out the cup holder so i get get a better grab on it and gave it a solid tug and it came off - amazing how much more space it gives you - can be a bad thing for me though - since i carry to much crap as it is - must be the boy scout days haunting me

Remove console lid & Hinge.

Remove console top. Start at the front with the cubby-holes/message center, then the cupholders. There are two mounting points on the front of the cupholders, for the cubby-hole/message center, so it has to be done in this order, so those dont get broken.

Remove the 4 screws that hold in the center console liner (7mm)

Disconnect CD changer and/or phone line from the center console.

Lift CD changer/console liner assembly straight out. There are 3 Philips screws on each end that hold the changer in.

Reassemble!

I personally opened up the hole for the phone jack, and put in another 12v outlet. I opened it enough to get the outlet part through, then screwed the outside part on to hold it in. (If you've ever had a 12v outlet apart, you'd understand that vagueness)

I just removed mine the other day. It really frees up allot of room.

As mentioned, the trick is to remove the cup holder and the piece between it and the dash in order to get to one particular screw to lift the changer out.

I saw a picture posted on this forum where someone had mounted some sort of computer in those pockets. Or it came from the factory that way.

It calculates MPG, speed, etc. Anyone know if this was factory or an add-on?

Comes factory, MPG, engine temp, range, distance driven, voltage. It let me know one time that my alternator had died
