Anyone got suggestions on how to echange the center armrest in a Ford Explorer 1999 Limited model. The armrest broke and it's difficult to repair. I'm thinking of upgrading it to a model with not only cup-holders (as now) but also radio/airco controls. Anyone experience with that. Are there connections avail even when not in use now. Is it plug and play or will it be something to regret...

thanx for any suggestions/thoughts

Roland

Yea, that is...yet, mine will too some day...hehehe

Hi guys,
I guess the European "limiteds" don't come that "limited" as the ones in the US. To be honest I'm familiair with that. I often come to the US (best country in the world) and I usualy rent the Ford Explorer. Even on the standard model I find gadgets that are not there on my Limited model. The dealership (one in the entire country...) says it has to do with taxes. They import them as stripped as possible in order to pay as little as possible "cartax" (which is a criminal 40% on dealerprice in this country). Then they up-grade as post-buy extra's back to a limited model. Guess they don't do all the limiting... but maybe it's because it is a 1999 model... the car is fine though and I allmost never sit in the back seats so I don't really miss the controls on the center armrest. But thanks for replying anyway.

ps. I removed the center armrest yesterday evening. just to see what's underneath... nothing but a little hole thats plugged with a rubber cap... So I guess your right... no plug and play there...

regards,
Roland

All Limiteds did not come with the V8. You are thinking of early Mountaineers......
