Center console squeak

When driver or passenger rests their arm on the center console the squeak drives me crazy. Obvious - don't rest on it but hard to tell the wife to stop. I pulled the top apart and put rubber under the screws and tightened any other screw I could find which might have made a difference but not much. Does anyone else have this problem and what have you done to quieten the damn thing short of ripping it out.

The plastic piece under the rubber cover is probably split. Open it and look inside the little pocket under the lid, then press from the outside.

When people get in, they tend to lean their weight on the lid, which it's not made for.
