Changing Center console in my 2000 XLS

I recently bought a 2000 explorer xls, and I hate the center condole in it. I am scared I am going to brake it, everytime I lean on it. So I am thinking of buying the XLT console with the volume controls and the AC/Heat in the back. I was wondering how hard it is to wire it, so I can get the use of the stereo controls as well as the AC in the back??

Exchanging Centre Console - Done!

I was in exact same situation. I have a 1998 Explorer, your 2000 might be the similar body/style, I don't know, but I have complete pics of the complete process. But I did not install it myself, I had the Ford dealership (autobody dept) put it in. tuffenuf83, what color is your interior? Are you talking about changing from the short console, to the full length console? I need a dark gray center ashtray/bracket. I have a 99 which had many parts missing.

Hey tuffenuf83 welcome!!! I can probably get you the center console cheap depending on the color. I don't know if you'll be able to use the contols or not but I'll look into it this weekend.

Also, can someone post pics/info, on how to remove the other console. The one with the arm that breaks. Or also known as console A. Cause once I get the new console, I am switching immediatly. Also no one knows how to get the heat/AC working in the back along with radio controls, cause this would jus tbe an added asset.
