Changing my tranny fluid and was wanting to know if anybody out there adds anything. The tranny's are our weak spot and I want to do all that I can. She's already got 150k on her. So what do you people think?

Do you have a cooler? I would recommend adding an external filter too.

Good luck.....

aldive: Thanks for the reply. Yes I do have the cooler. I've been thinking of adding a second. Have you done this?

I have the factory cooler and it works great for me. I also have the external filter as well as a temp gauge.

what kinda tranny fluid do you use? synthetic or regular stuff?

I use regular. I read some where that if you have over 50k to 70k on the tranny its not a good idea to switch. Reason being is that the synthetic will cause the gaskets to leak due to being smaller molecules. Does that make sense or was some one pullin my leg?

don't know if it matters but i put it in my X with 40K on the rebuild, 178K on the truck as a whole and no leaks. but i have the 5spd don't know what kinda bearing that has in your situation.
