1997 B4000, 4.0L, manual transmission; looks rough, runs great.

The charcoal canister sits in front of the engine compartment on driver's side, below the battery, behind the headlight.

Running into the canister are two hoses. One hose is grey, has a molded 90-deg angle on the end that connects to the canister, then it runs along the wheel well and disappears somewhere.

The other hose is short, black -- maybe 6 inches long, one end has a molded 90-deg bend to connect to the canister, the other end is straight and fits onto the nipple of a small round thing etc etc etc. I need this hose. The 90-deg bend is split from age, it works loose then throws a P0443 code, I have a small hose clamp on it right now but want to replace the hose, which is cracking badly. I'm 90 miles to the nearest Mazda dealer and hoping I can find a part number for the thing here. Because it's part of the emission control system, I'm reluctant to replace it with a piece of hose from the hardware store.

HELP!!

Thanks.

Hardware store is a good option just make sure the hose and fittings you use are fuel safe

Parts for. 97 Mazda are obsolete the dealer will not have this hose. You are diy or junkyard. This is not high pressure it is only fuel vapor management so it is not difficult to make up a
Nice hose and connections using simple clamps and elbows
You may check the Help! Section at your local auto parts store as well

Thanks -- that's really what I thought. The manufactured 90-deg bend in the end of the hose is what was throwing me. I'll poke around at my local hardware store and see what I can come up with.

I live in a rural area of VA, so, our hardware store -- although it's an Ace store -- stocks a lot of items and supplies that our farmers need.

I am also rural area and I have a 1988 with that same charcoal canister under the hood :) I have one of those elbows too
Mine was put together with junk yard bitd from other fords and hardware store goodies
