asp, good job on your almost completely done successful conversion. heh. my queston is that ive heard its a abd idea to drop v8's into a v6 model becuause the v6 chasis isnt stong enough to handle the added torque. anybod know about this?

If you're talking the Explorer, there is no chassis difference between the V6 version and the V8 version (as far as I know). In general, the chassis is usually strong enough to support the conversion, but many times you have to re-do the suspension and drivetrain to handle the extra ponies. The front springs almost always have to be replaced to handle the extra weight of the V8. On some vehicles, you also have to reinforce the chassis with subframe connectors (Unibody vehicles) or the engine compartment with a shock tower to shock tower bar (Used to be called a Monte-Carlo bar in the older Mustangs)

Also, switching to a V-8 only adds about 150lbs. That's not much more than a big winch.

so generaly there would be no problem....what about a sport? becuase of the smaller size and all, would it still not matter that much?

On a sport, it will require changing your torsion bars to the stiffest rating. Either B or D. Sports come with bars from the factory so that's why you need to change.

how easy is it goin about changin em. and how much do they cost?

The Chasis is PLENTY Strong for the V8........ just think....The 5.0s are also in cars that have no frame, just a unibody. Heres a FACT: After converting my 4DR 4x4 Explorer to a V8, My suspension DID NOT DROP an inch!!!! ( on two wheel drive trucks, you will notice a drop, thats what Ive been told.) As stated earlier the V8 only weighs a 150 extra pounds! I'm sure you know, that the stock transmission can not be used. Although the Chain driven stock transfer case is built to hold up to the v8 power.....under normal driving situations. Good Luck!
