Ppl are such A-holes sometimes! You have to spend money to keep the low-lifes from stealing the money you already spent.

Um, I hope you're referring to the images posted before.

And, I'm on the verge of giving up on this install and paying someone to do it..
Anyone know a good place in the Toronto area? ;)

Stock alarm, insurance covered 70% of it. Sorry I can't help you out Dom, I personally wouldn't skimp out on an alarm system. Good luck and let us know how it works afterwards. Oh and I had a stereo shop install my alarm, they did a pretty good job.

Yeah, I was wondering if some stereo shop would do it cheap for me considering I did half the work already and have my own system.

I have the panels off, already ran the siren/power cable through to the hood/battery. All they'd need to do is hook up the wires under the dash, and since they do it for a living, it's like what, 15 minutes for them? Hopefully I can bargain, I'll even tell them I'll put the panels back on. :P

I was talking about Karpiel73's issue. Your pics arent coming up for me.

Shops do not like the "did half myself" jobs. They either refuse it or charge you for a full install because they do not trust anyone wiring besides their's for insurance and warranty purpose and will yanked off what you did and redo it from scratch. I did my 97 EX real quick because the power locks only required a couple of wires, not the reverse polarity one. And out of the 8 wires for remote start only 4 were connected and the alarm section only 2 wires were connected factory disarm and dome light for instant trigger. I did it by following one of the members here had to do a search since it was a while ago. I stopped going to shops since a local Greensboro so called alarm/radio shop installed their alarm system on my 1990 Bronco and fried it up back in 91. I never trust a shop again since and feel comfortable doing my own, if I screw it up it my fault. I'm trying to post some pics to help you out but forgot how. Lol

Yup.. I went to about 5 shops, they all say that I did it 'wrong' and they need to 'fix' it. So, they all want to charge me the full $100. However, most places have told me to just do it myself.. which is odd. (Sending away a customer?)

I'm ok with doing it myself, I have basic knowledge of electrical. I just can't find these wires.
Please post those pics!
And, I hope my 97 has negative locks so it's just 1 wire.. and not the whole relay thing..

UPDATE:

I got mad with all the pricing to install it ($100+), so I just did it myself..
After many headaches and freezing my butt off, I have successfully installed the alarm.
Everything works and I'm proud of my job! :)
And, to everyone who said I should've bought a better alarm, ha..
This alarm is great. I was testing it, and it does everything I need. Keyless Entry, full alarm w/ door and shock sensors.
I don't want a starter, and I didn't want anything fancy.
For the price, it's great!

Good job on the instal! Thats not an easy task for a first timer. And as long as you are happy with it thats all that matters. Money talks! - So does the little red blinking light on the dash ;)

Little blue led*
Boy is that LED bright..
BUT, now I'm having a problem.
The door trigger is the dome light, but when I press lock, the light turns on so it triggers the alarm.

Any way to change the timer on the dome light?

mmmmm... I dont know. The alarms im familiar with will bypass the input until it goes away then starts watching it again. Gonna have to wait for someone more tallented than me to come along.

Mine bypasses for 60 seconds. However, when it locks, it arms and the light is off. But once the door is fully locked (split seconds) the light comes back on, making the alarm go crazy since it's as if a door was opened.
The only way I found to bypass this is to lock the door with the door switch before pressing lock on the alarm key fob..

Hi gyus! I need your advice too! I've recently replaced my car alarm becuse it started to work in a really starnge way. It just refused to work near my house, I can't lock or unlock the car. And it starts working when I'm about 50 feet far from the house. I suspect that someone among my neighbors uses car alarm jammer. Any ideas on how can I found out who does that exactly?

I don't think anyone here will know how to track the person down.
But, I'm pretty sure that those are illegal in both Canada and The US. Just get the law involved.

Thats pretty good lol.

I had an air horn on mine for a siren.

Yeah, I've seen that. I just don't know how much my neighbors would like me if that went off at 3 am.. I think a regular siren is bad enough.

The whole point being is to attract attention instead of pissing people of and they dont think to look. The moaning would make many people run to their doors/windows and maybe catch a crook!!
