I hate to ask because I hear it's so easy and all but I don't have the tools and even then I'm afraid of screwing my truck up.

So does anyone know a good mechanic in the Big Bear Ca. area that won't charge an arm and leg to do a TT and shackle lift?

all you need is a socket wrench and a bar that will fit around it. then just get under your truck and start cranking. there is really no need to go to a mechanic, you CAN do it yourself. besides most mechanics wont touch your torsion bars with a 10 foot pole.

I agree, do it yourself. And if you don't have a good ratchet set, get one and it will still cost less than having someone do this for you.

I'm sure you can get some CA members to come your way (or go visit some of them) and they'll help you out for a few beers, too.

I'm in Riverside. My mechanic out in OC did mine real cheap if your ever out this way. Or maybe sometime in the next few weeks I can atempt to help you on it.

Well to be honest I have degenerative arthritis and it's really tough for me to put any kind of pressure on my back or my left and right shoulders. Plus I have never been mechanically inclined, pretty good with computers and networks, but since cars and trucks have changed so much from the early 70's I'm lost.

I'm not that old, I was a LAN Analyst until they put me on permanent total disability because of a my problems. My dr. says I can't lift over 5-10lbs, or stand for more time than it takes to get to the bathroom. But I can drive, and on a good day can stay behind the wheel for enough times to do most of the runs up here in Big Bear.

So if I could get someone to do it for a few bucks, beers or whatever I would be eternally grateful.

I just could not believe thet the few places that I found who would consider doing it tried to charge me $400 - $550.

Anyway Thanks for the response, and I will get it done one way or another hopefully before the Labor Day Big Bear run.

Big Bear Bob:
I suggest you organize a Garage Meet, have some beer and fajitas, and you'll have fun and get your truck done :)

I don't know exactly who's down there, but RangerX N of SD and Jefe come to mind. Wasn't RangerX up there last weekend on a run?

Xplodor

I might take you up on that. I lived in Anaheim just down the street from the Big Ed. (Anaheim Stadium), and grew up in Garden Grove.

I do not want to put you on the spot, so if you want you can e-mail me at bpank@earthlink.com

alec sounds like a great idea since we live in Big Bear, have a small extra room, a hot tub, and I can BBQ the best ribs this side of Texas..

Anyway if anyone is intrested let me know.

I'm game!

Bad news for me, my wife said yesterday after I bought the warrior war153 shackles. That there was no way she would let me go through with the lift. She says she's afraid that the tt shackle lift would screw the truck up somewhow, and that right now the X is the only vehicle we have. So I have to wait to get another truck car or whatever, and that will not be in the near future.

So thanks guys but....

the TT wont hurt the truck at all. at long as we dont crank it above 2'' (which we wont) it wont cause any harm. if you have a garage meet ill show up and help out. i just did a TT today in like 15 mins. its really easy.
