I have a 96 Explorer, AWD 5.0 and my check engine light came on. I took it to a shop and the codes they got said it was in the fuel evap system. Could not find any leaks and the gas cap seems to be ok. They say it might be the Vapor Management Valve. But there not positive and they said you may have to take it to the dealer to get further checks. Anyone have this trouble before?

make sure you turn off your key when filling up with gas and make sure your gas cap is on tight thats whats wrong most of the time sometimes its the valve hope that helps

I dont know how to check your gas cap, but I used to hear air escaping when I removed it for gas, but well I don't hear that lately, but has been alot cooler here. They showed me where the valve is on the front left frame under the spash shield. I may just buy one of those if not to expensive and a fuel cap, before the light comes on again. they cleared the codes and so far its staying off, but they said It will come on again.

thanks for the info :)

Ron
