check engine light??

well to start off with i have a stock 91 4dr 5 spd explorer, i was driving on the interstate today about 75-80 and it started to pulse kinda when i took my foot of the gas all the way, then the " check engine" light came on so i pulled over i poped the hood got out and looked at the engine all is good i get back in light is off, humm ok i turned it off and let it sit for a few minutes i started it back up no engine light , so i take off and then it comes on again and for about 1 or 2 minutes then goes off. and hasnt came on again, and no problems? im just curious as to what it could be , is this just the start of a big problem? anyone have this happen to them or know about it ? any info i would appreciate. thanks!

first off you can buy a code scanner at your local pepboys for about 40 dollars and that will give you a code that will tell you the problem. but my mechanic told me that its probablya dummy light it could be a sensor that is broke or dirty he said to disconnect the battery cable and re connnect it this will reset the computer try this first if the light still comes on get the code scanner 91 xlt 4x4 175000 miles

Skip Pep Boys and go to Walmart. I bought my code scanner from Walmart for $25 and I believe it will work thru the 94 models. Put the other $15 in your gas tank. They are also the most common name brand.
