Check Gage Lite Question

My "check gage" lite lights up every 15-30 seconds, stays on for about 60 seconds and then goes out for a bit and then repeats. This is not the check engine light but a small round red light in a circular spot in the upper left side of instrument panel on my 95 XLT. Gages all fine except for temp gage which doesn't work but hasn't for years. "check gage" lite started up about a month ago when I ran the gas tank really low before fillup. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but nothing else has changed.

Any way to reset this gage?

Could be a problem with the anti-slosh module, it controls the light.

It could be the temp gauge, but I'm not sure on that one. What does it do?
