Water?

Well, at the prices of gas nowdays, anything is possible.. I wouldn't be surprised if the gas is water-diluted or something, lol... I've heard of this before... You add a hundred gallons of water to a few thousand-gallon tank, and you've got yourself a few hundred bucks of extra cash real fast, real easy... And hey, it's at the very least enough to pay the kid at the counter for the week - free labor. I've heard of these practices before.... And the best part is that the customer will never know the diffrence.. their cars will still burn it.

I doubt it would be done at the refinery though, it will usually be a franchise-specific thing. They can't get away with this in the winter (for obvious reasons), but in the summer anything goes.
 






Water doesn't really "dilute" gasoline (they are "immiscible") -- gasoline will sit on top of water because it's less dense. If the pump sucks from the bottom, then all that pump will suck in is water until there is no more water.
