Just wanted to thank everyone on this board who has suggested the clay bar for detailing. I never would have heard of it or bothered to try it, but I clay barred and waxed my truck yesterday, and holy hell, the paint is like glass. It feels like a showroom car. Awesome, awesome product. Definately worth the $12. I'll try to get some pictures up tonight if I can.

I had an "oh ****" moment, 30 seconds after I unwrapped mine I nearly dropped it but was able to catch it. Hahaha

Well because you all love pictures so much and i said I'd get some for ya, here's my paint post-detailing. I couldn't get the classic "reflection of the sky in the hood" shot because it got covered in a fine layer of green pollen overnight and looked like crap. :(

Anyway, here they are. It doesn't look too great from the photos, but its smooth as a baby's ass. :D

Here's a trick a veteran detailer taught me...

To ensure a good claying, find a cellophane overwrap from a cigarette pack, or similar thin "crinkly" cellophane (not the waxy feeling kind like a sandwich bag or Saran Wrap), place a couple fingers in it, and glide it over your paint. The cellophane will magnify any imperfections making it easy to feel if your paint needs claying or if you missed any spots.

I didn't believe it till I tried it. Works perfect.

wait, y cant you drop it?

wait, y cant you drop it?

Because it will pick up any dirt on the floor, and then when you're running it over your paint, that dirt will scratch the hell out of your paint.

Looking great. Last time I saw it, it was covered in road salt. :D

Also, you can use a plastic bag. You do not have to use the whole bar, break it into 3 pieces, depending on size. Just keep kneading it, one piece should last you a couple of years easy, and that would be with 2 applications a year. By the way the truck looks nice.

i love clay bar soooo much, been using it on all my vehicles

its amazing what it can do, the results are great and then putting the wax on afterwards is so much better

Dropping is a big nono, it will pic up dirt and then scratch your paint.

i usually tear mine in half just in case i drop it i have the other half to use, and ill only be out half a bar and not a whole bar

hey jason, nice pics but looks like u need to get an alignment and some new tires;)
