Im in the process of gathering parts for my 5.0 swap, and I recently got my H.O. up and lower intake and it looks like the original owner had a clear powder coat on it years ago, but time kills all and its flaking and developing oxidation under the flaking spots. What can I do to clean the oxidation off without taking it into be soda blasted. In the last few months I've roughly spent 1200-1500 between parts and tools and would like to continue to be budget minded when ever possible. I live right next to a self serve car wash where you park in the stalls and power wash everything if that can help.

For 5.00 you can get a gallon of "purple power" degreaser.

Mix it with a gallon of warm water and soak for about 3-4 hours.
Using rubber gloves and a Chore boy pad,

scour the coating off. Be diligent. If all of the coating does not soften up, let it soak a while longer and try again.

Then follow up with a hot water rinse.

If this doesn't work let us know.

There is another trick to try, but it is slightly more expensive, and a little hazardous.
